Is akechi psychotic?
By using this ability on a person's Shadow Self in the Metaverse, Akechi can cause the person to undergo a psychotic breakdown and perform unpredictable, usually violent actions, from reckless driving to stripping themselves naked in public.
Goals. Exact revenge on his father Masayoshi Shido (failed). Kill Joker (failed). Destroy Maruki's reality (succeeded in Return ending).
Akechi is truly villainous but somehow maintains a connection with Joker that feels closer than any other member of the Phantom Thieves. He literally shoots Joker in the face but he also sacrifices himself for Joker twice. These complexities make Akechi a great villain and one of the strongest characters in the series.
Akechi later sacrifices himself to save the Phantom Thieves when he learns that Shido had planned on having him killed after the election.
Futaba Sakura speculates that Akechi was only able to awaken to two Personas (one that represented his lies and one that represented his hate) because he didn't trust anyone enough to form genuine human bonds, implying that a person needs to be connected to others in order to make full use out of the Wild Card ability.

goro akechi having two (2) distinct rebel attires and two (2) “true” persona that awakened to an amalgamation third is accidentally symbolic of several defining traits of borderline personality disorder, namely: a disturbed and disjointed sense of identity.
It's a love confession: Akechi's life isn't "trivial" to Joker because he loves him.
Akechi is the illegitimate child of Masayoshi Shido, the same man responsible for the protagonist's probation period. His mother was a sex worker who was shamed for having a child out of wedlock and committed suicide.
Masayoshi Shido is the main antagonist of Persona 5, and Joker's archenemy. The seventh and final major target, Shido is the head of The Conspiracy, a powerful politician, and Goro Akechi's father.
Who is Goro Akechi based on?
During the stream, it was only stated that Goro Akechi is a detective in high school, and he is voiced by Sōichirō Hoshi. His identity is based on the fictional private Japanese detective Kogoro Akechi, who has appeared in works such as The Fiend with Twenty Faces and Lupin III.
Takuto Maruki is a major character of Persona 5 Royal, and later the main antagonist in its Third Term segment after taking over the role upon Yaldabaoth's defeat. He is also the final antagonist of Persona 5 Royal and the main entries of Persona 5 as a whole.
He has a desperate desire to be acknowledged, which he is forthright about being the primary drive for his actions as a detective. He also has a narcissistic element to his personality, wishing for others to see him as a hero and those who oppose him as the villains.
After everything he has gone through, the troubled antihero of the Persona 5 games is still alive. However, that true ending isn't enough. It implies that Akechi quietly goes into police custody, presumably to atone for his crimes by testifying against Shido, and the Phantom Thieves never hear from him again.
According to Zippo, this new game won't be an RPG and will star Akechi, focusing "on his adventures and skills as a star detective." Unfortunately, this is all Zippo divulges. There's no word when the game will be revealed, but if you read between the lines, it sounds like its reveal may not be very far away.
Of the many endings in Persona 5, there's only one true, canonical ending. Instead of accepting the god of control's offer in the Velvet Room, Joker intends on breaking the world from its control and giving people free will. The Phantom Thieves return to the Tokyo-Metaverse hybrid world and battle Yaldabaoth.
Once they go down, Akechi steps in to fight you himself. He's not terrifically difficult to fight here and, like his shadows, has no weaknesses or affinities. To conserve SP for the next section, handle him with physical and gun moves. Note he focuses most of his attacks on Joker.
Rank nine and ten are both automatically reached on 12/3 if the player has reached rank 8 by 11/17. However, on the evening of 12/3 you will be given several dialogue choices, some of which will lock out Akechi's progress. If you choose to forget, then Akechi's ultimate persona will not be unlocked.
AkeShu/ShuAke is the slash ship between Akira Kurusu/Ren Amamiya/Joker and Goro Akechi from the Persona fandom.
Sadly, no more mention of Akechi happens in Persona 5 Strikers.
Who is Joker's canon Persona?
While the player can freely choose a given name for Joker, his Phantom Thief code name, he is canonically named Ren Amamiya in most other appearances.
Eventually, it's revealed that Maruki resurrected Akechi, who had, in fact, died during the infiltration of Shido's palace, and that dismantling Maruki's world would mean the demise of Akechi.
Futaba blamed herself, claiming that she was a burden on Wakaba's busy life. An apparent suicide note confirming those suspicions accelerated an already rapid descent into depression.
Akechi will erect walls that block either physical or magic damage for three turns. Do not use the type of damage that he is blocking against or he will reflect it back at you. Use the other damage type and wait out the wall. Stay healthy and slowly whittle down his health bar.
Personality disorders. In general, Arthur appears to have a complex mix of features of certain personality traits, namely narcissism (since he craves attention by any means) and psychopathy (since he demonstrates no empathy for his victims).
Akechi is an absolute pragmatist, always opting for the most efficient, reliable and profitable approach - in right and wrong.
Akechi is resistant to Bless attacks, and is weak against Curse. As such, Akechi should take caution in using Curse skills, as he may be Downed by his own attack against enemies that repel it.
Joker's True Feelings For Akechi
But given the context of the proverb, it wouldn't be out of line to suggest that Joker's feelings for Akechi are more than just friendship. He loves him, and that love isn't something to be taken lightly.
The three main requirements to meet are: Reaching Faith Confidant rank 5 before the end of the year. Reaching Maruki Confidant rank 9 before mid-November. Clearing Akechi Confidant rank 8 before November 17 and remaining loyal to your friends during rank 7.
The implication is clear: in the true ending of Persona 5 Royal where players complete Akechi's new Confidant arc and reject Maruki's reality, Akechi finds some means to survive. After everything he has gone through, the troubled antihero of the Persona 5 games is still alive.
What rank should Akechi be?
Akechi's Confidant must reach rank eight by November 17 if you want the true ending. There's a period until November when you're stuck at rank six, so once the penultimate month of the year rolls around, don't drag your feet. Make sure to give Akechi his favorite gifts to shorten the time between ranking up as well.
Shido has no weaknesses or resistances in this form but here are the moves that he uses: Tyrant's Fist: Severe Physical to one target with the chance of Fear.
Shido, unsurprisingly, was the final boss of the original game and therefore is extremely difficult to take on. Without equipping a Persona that at the very least resists physical damage (if it doesn't repel or drain it) for Joker, you're probably going to have a very bad time with this fight.
